You’re so afraid, as you should be, that you’re going to lose your mid-term elections, that you feel you have to resort to bribing your electorate with cash. I have to admit, US$5000 would go down well right about now, if I was an unfortunate American citizen, but the price of having to put up with Republicans governing my country would be too much.
And anyway, for most American citizens, who have been living so close to the edge during your tenure so far, every penny of those $5000 would go to a bank to pay off credit cards, so it’s a win/win situation for you and your buddies at the banks, who will turn around and give you that $5000 right back in donations (making it a net theft right from your own treasury). It’s a sad situation in which you and the rest of Americans live. If only you had a politician who cared enough about the real people that to do something about it.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. In 2024 I honestly thought that Americans couldn’t possibly make the same mistake twice, and yet that was exactly what they did. Well, that’s one thing you Yanks are good at, pushing the envelope; let’s see if, after years of watching you fuck up long-held relationships and upend world order (and not in a good way) the American electorate is really stupid enough to give you more rope to hang yourself.
