BC provincial election: I know Eby’s a dumbass, but vote for the Greens, or him

I’m here on the eve (literally) of the BC provincial election, and I’m begging you not to vote for the Conservative Party of British Columbia. It’s obvious to everyone that David Eby and the BC NDP made a big mistake calling this election at this time, but if that’s the biggest mistake they’ve made in the last ten years, is it really worth putting all of your eggs in the Conservative Party’s basket?!

Depending on who you talk to, of course, the NDP have made other mistakes during their terms in office. (Hospitals, anyone?) But it’s not a competition to get to the bottom. Have the Conservatives made any mistakes? Have you got a couple of hours? Let’s not forget that the Conservatives are the renamed (several times) BC Liberals. They can’t decide on a name, and they haven’t been able to decide on a leader. They only picked Lorne Doerksen at the last moment to be the party’s “interim” leader because Eby gave them the stark choice between him and nothing. I’ll admit, if you prefer old-looking, White males, he’s your guy. But anyone (especially old, White males) can look “serious” and claim to be a “strong Leader for serious times”, which is all advertising bullshit, and anyone who has lived in this province for twenty years can tell you that.

If you vote Conservative, it will be back to the bad old days of the BC Liberals faster than you can shake a stick. And the Conservative have no relationship(s) with the First Nations people in this province, and I don’t see them making any effort to build said relationships, other than to promise to repeal the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA), which will cost us taxpayers in the short term the minute the first court case starts. Yeah, been there, done that, no thank-you very much. Like I said, back to the bad old days of the BC Liberals. Christy Clarke must be rubbing her hands with glee.

If you’re in one of the 73 ridings in which a Green Party candidate is running, vote for them. Take a look around the world; the Green Party is not something your kids vote for in their high school student elections, it’s an actual, real party that adults can vote for. Look at the newly elected mayor of Vancouver! If you don’t have a Green Party candidate, then fine, vote for the NDP, but for god’s sake, don’t vote for the Conservative Party. If you do, this province will go backwards faster than you thought was possible. I know it.
